Doctor's Orders: Eat Your Fruits and Veggies

Every health specialist out there will tell you that it’s important to eat your fruits and vegetables. There are a number of benefits to incorporating fruits and veggies into your daily intake, and I wanted to share a few of them with you.

Fruits and vegetables protect against disease.

The reason most health professionals urge everyone to get the proper daily servings of fruits (2 cups daily) and vegetables (2.5 cups daily) is because these food contain so many vitamins, minerals, and fiber that will help protect you from chronic diseases. Fruits and vegetables have been shown to help protect against heart disease, stroke, certain types of cancer, gastrointestinal issues, high blood pressure, eye disease and more.

Fruits and vegetables boost your immune system.

Keeping your immune system strong will help prevent you from catching viruses. Your wounds will heal faster, you’ll be less likely to suffer from upper respiratory infections and avoid chronic illness.

Fill up with Fruits and Vegetables to Stay Full Longer

Fiber helps keep you full without filling out your waistline. Fruits and vegetables both contain fiber without all the calories found in unhealthy food. Filling your plate with salad and cooked vegetables will give you the satisfaction of feeling full while getting the nutrients you need.

Part of your wellness plan.

If you’re a chiropractic patient you are already taking one step toward wellness, but fruits and vegetables should be a part of your wellness plan also. Think of it as a low cost treatment against symptoms, illness, and disease. If you stick to regular chiropractic care and proper nutrition, you’ll avoid surgery and medication!

The list of reasons you NEED fruits and vegetables in your diet could go on and on, but those reasons are compelling enough for me. If you need help modifying your diet just ask how we can help.
