Spinal Decompression

Effective, Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

Spinal Disk Decompression is state-of-the-art technology that gradually reduces the pressure on delicate nerves caused by herniated or degenerated discs. Reducing pressure on nerves helps to relieve back pain, reduce inflammation and restore mobility.

At Cafe of Life Marin, we use the Kennedy Decompression Technique, which is the best nonsurgical Spinal Decompression technology on the market. Since January of 2000, Café of Life patients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area have enjoyed a high success rate when treated with this technology. Our approach also uses other advanced methods to stabilize and strengthen dysfunctional muscle patterns. Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression treatment is very safe, and we usually know in less than 3 weeks if the treatment is going to work for you.

How Spinal Disc Decompression Relieves Pain

Spinal Disc Decompression relieves pain by enlarging the space between spinal discs. Negative pressure is applied, which relieves compression on discs and nerves, allowing the herniated and bulging discs to eventually return to their normal positions. Spinal Disc Decompression is the most effective treatment available today for severe cases of disc herniation, disc degeneration, arthritis, spinal stenosis, and pressure on the nerve root. A clinical study performed by the Orthopedic Technology Review in 2004 demonstrated spinal pain relief in many cases of disc compression.

The Spinal Disc

The spinal disc is composed of soft cartilaginous material, which separates the spinal vertebras and acts as a shock absorber. Each disc contains a gel-like center called the nucleus and has a fibrous outer covering called the annulus. The blood supply to spinal discs is normally sparse, so if a disc is injured, it may not heal properly. Spinal Disc Decompression helps injured discs heal by stimulating the regeneration of the disc cartilage, increasing blood supply to the disc and providing important nutrients. For a bulging disk, Spinal Disc Decompression increases the height of the disc space, providing more room for the disc, which allows it to return to normal size and function.

About the Kennedy Decompression Technique

The Kennedy Technique uses state-of-the-art technology to gradually relieve compression of spinal nerves associated with lower back pain or cervical pain. The Kennedy Decompression Table has been proven to relieve pain by:

  • Enlarging the disc space
  • Reducing herniation
  • Strengthening supporting ligaments to help move herniated disc material back into place
  • Reversing high intradiscal pressure through the application of negative pressure

What To Expect with Your Treatment on the Kennedy Decompression Table

Your  treatment begins with a series of daily sessions for two weeks, followed by treatments three times per week as needed. Each session consists of 30-45 minutes on the Kennedy Decompression Table.

The Kennedy Decompression Table helps to mobilize or activate the affected disc segment, which begins the process of pain relief and recovery. Following each therapy session, a cold pack with electrical muscle stimulation is applied to assist in the stabilization of the paravertebral muscles.

What Results Can I Expect from the Kennedy Decompression Table

After only three weeks of treatment, clinical studies have shown outstanding results in relieving debilitating pain caused by bulging, herniated, degenerative, or ruptured discs; sciatica; posterior facet syndrome; spinal stenosis; and many failed back surgery cases.

Marin Chiropractor Café of Life provides Spinal Decompression Treatment for patients throughout Marin County, Sonoma County, Northern San Francisco, Mill Valley, Corte Madera, Larkspur, Sausalito, Tiburon, Belvedere, Kentfield, Ross, San Rafael, The Presidio and The Marina.
